While caffeine provides some health benefits, it is important to moderate consumption to avoid any adverse side effects. The average adult can handle approximately, 400 mg of caffeine each day or about four cups of coffee. Since caffeine can be hidden in food, gum, and medicine we consume such as chocolate, oatmeal, and over-the-counter pain relievers, it is important to read labels.
