After two years without a national conference, the American Institute of Architects came back to life in a big way. The week was filled with educational opportunities and networking with over 15,000 attendees, 90 seminars, 75 project tours, and much more.
Friday, June 24, was an especially exciting day of the conference for the 88 members being elevated to the prestigious College of Fellows, including Partner Steve Schultz. The Investiture Ceremony was held at the Chicago Auditorium Theatre, designed by the renowned architectural firm Adler and Sullivan, and is a National Historic Landmark known for incredible acoustics and timeless design.
The AIA College of Fellows is the highest membership honor, and the distinction is only held by 3% of the 95,000 + members. We are proud of Steve’s exceptional work ethic and commitment to bettering our communities. His hands-on leadership style with a focus on mentorship in the office is invaluable to our growth.
Steve was joined by his family, including his wife, Melodee, his mother, Marilyn, Matt Schultz, Colt Vogel, April Corley Adams, Bryce Vogel, Jordan Adams, long-time colleague, Diane Osan, close friends, George and Debbie Simpson, and PhiloWilke Partner, Greg Johnson to celebrate this remarkable accomplishment.
“Investiture in the College of Fellows is one of the highest honors the American Institute of Architects can convey to one of its members. When I learned of my elevation, my immediate reaction was one of elation and validation. To me, it meant that I was now walking the same pathway that relatively few architects are fortunate to walk. As I reflected on my career, I knew that none of this would have been possible without the guidance and support I received from my mentors, associates, clients, family and friends. I’m truly humbled to receive such an honor and will continue my efforts of giving back by helping others raise their level of practice in our profession and community.”
