Keeping Houston strong by hitting hunger out of the park!
This past weekend PhiloWilke Partnership and O’Donnell Snider Construction teamed up to participate in the 2017 Houston CANstruction. Our “Cansculpture” Minute Meal Park, represented the resiliency of our great city and honored our 2017 World Series Champions the Houston Astros. We are thrilled to have been awarded this year’s “Best Use of Label”.
Each year architects, engineers, contractors, and students gather to design and construct innovative sculptures completely out of non-perishable food. The goal of the event is to raise awareness and donations for the Houston Food Bank. Each year CANstruction Houston contributes thousands of pounds of food to benefit those in need within the greater Houston area.
This year our team built a representation of the Minute Maid Park, over four thousand cans of food and rice bags were used to construct the 5-foot-high structure. In addition to showing our pride in the Houston Astros. The sculpture was designed as a symbol of Houston’s resiliency after the devastating impact of Hurricane Harvey. We wanted to celebrate our City’s team and show our communities camaraderie in the wake of the storm.
The Houston Astros win at the World Series is exactly what the City needed. Thank you for helping our city shine a little brighter. We will stay “Houston Strong” and hit hunger our of our City.
