The Methodist Center for Orthopedic Surgery is a 7,134-square foot diagnostic and treatment center on the second floor of The Methodist Hospital West Houston Medical Office Building. This office specifically serves West Houston / Katy patients and is an addition to The Methodist Center for Orthopedic Surgery’s series of locations serving all regions of the Greater Houston area. The space accommodates three doctors and their patients at a time by providing each doctor with their own pod including a bank of exam rooms and a dedicated nurse station equipped with doctor dictation and x-ray viewing capabilities. The three patient pods use a patient tracking system to share diagnostic imaging functions as well as common treatment and administration areas including a cast room and surgery scheduling. The imaging suite includes a shared control area for two x-ray rooms, one digital machine, and the other room accommodates a relocated film type x-ray machine but also has the capability to adapt for the use of a future digital machine. Due to the nature of orthopedic patients, ease of accessibility and minimizing circulation distances were primary design influences which lead to incorporation of features such as oversized doors with automatic operators and intuitive way finding through the use of colors and finishes.
