The Gonzaba Medical Facility transformed their Physical Therapy outpatient services with their new clinic located on the south side of San Antonio. This project involved not only giving the clinic a fresh new look but also expanding the gym space to accommodate more patients, particularly focusing on enhancing physical therapy treatment for older individuals. Additionally, the second floor was designated as a staff gym, providing added perks for employees.
Ensuring patient accessibility was a key consideration throughout the design process. We carefully planned the layout to ensure that all areas were on one plane, paying special attention to seamless flooring transitions to accommodate patients using walkers or canes. Moreover, we prioritized creating a welcoming atmosphere to enhance the overall patient experience and comfort during treatment.
One notable aspect of this project was the flexibility we had in selecting materials and incorporating unique design elements. As the client was a smaller group, we were not limited to design standardization, allowing us creative freedom. We took advantage of this opportunity by incorporating unique features in the arches and millwork, and some of the exterior design elements showcased a Hispanic influence, resonating with the local population in San Antonio.
The aesthetic choices not only met the owner’s requirements but also catered to the specific needs of the patient population it serves. We incorporated architectural elements that addressed the needs of geriatric patients and design elements aimed at enhancing patient comfort. The satisfaction expressed by the client and on-site staff serves as evidence of the new construction’s success in transforming the facility.
