The faculty lounge was designed to be a serene, quiet, relaxing, ‘oasis’ for the MD Anderson Cancer Center faculty. Upon entering the lounge, one is embraced with an environment completely different from the hectic hospital scene outside. Soft lighting, soothing colors, comfortable seating, and showcased artwork are all hallmarks of the space. The lounge is very intimate, only 900 SF, yet affords the user with a variety of spaces to relax, recharge, and recuperate. There are areas for both quiet seclusion and group collaboration. The space is also malleable and can be transformed into a lecture space, reception area, or even a catered dining room. A small kitchen with individual lockers is discreetly located behind an articulated art wall to provide a place to store valuables and obtain food and beverages. There is also a separate work area with computers and printers.
